A Brief History of
Moray Emerald CSC
The current Moray Emerald CSC
was formed in August 1977 and was at the time known
as "The Alfie Conn Branch", meetings were held in the
Tower Hotel, Elgin
Office Bearers were as noted:
President - lain McAllister
Vice President - David Mackenzie
Sec/Treasurer Billy Corbett
Committee Members:
Joe Cormack
William Cooke
James Gardiner
Jim Corbett.
Billy and Jim Corbett are still
committee members 30 years on.
The clubs first bus trip was Sat
13 August1977, Celtic V Dundee Utd
At the agm in August 1980 it was decided to rename the club
The Moray Emerald CSC and
meetings were switched to the St, Leonards Hotel Elgin.
The club held its first "player
of the year" dinner/dance in the St, Leonards Hotel on
Friday 18 June 1982. Player of the year was Frank McGarvey who
was accompanied by
Celtic director Jack McGinn and their wives.
Other players who attended various
player of the year functions were
Murdo Mcleod, Tom McAdam, Tommy Burns, Davie Provan, Mark Smith
and Anton Rogan.
